Katharine is a retired public interest attorney with a long term interest in supporting the ministries of Response Network – her children and their peers helped lead high school clubs to raise money for Jon Christian School 2010-2018.
Katharine’s career ministry was focused on fighting for the rights of low-income seniors and individuals with disabilities in the areas of health care coverage, language access, income security and elder rights. She first practiced law at a non-profit firm, and later joined Justice in Aging (formerly National Senior Citizens Law Center), where she worked on national policies including Medicare, Medicaid and Social Security. Katharine co-wrote “Baby Boomers Guide to Nursing Home Care.”
After retiring, Katharine seeks to serve God as a leader of the Alliance of Asian American Baptist Churches and a board member for the Asian American Christian Collaborative and Community Resources for Independent Living (Alameda County, CA) and her home church. She holds an M.Div. from Berkeley School of Theology, a J.D. from UC Berkeley and a B.A from Yale University.
Khan serves as the Children and Family Ministries Pastor at New Life Christian Fellowship in Castro Valley. She is passionate about evangelism and love teaching children and youth while also ministering to families, helping them grow in their faith in Christ Jesus.
Khan is devoted to making disciples in a multicultural context. She believes in the call of the Great Commission and leads her ministry community to actively participate in both local and global missions. Through teaching, mentoring, and equipping families, she encourages believers of all ages to serve others and share the love of Christ.
Khan also serves as a hospice chaplain in the Central Valley, providing spiritual and emotional support to people who are nearing the end of life. Her ministry centers on deep, compassionate listening, being present with patients and helping caregivers process their grief, stress, and need for self-care. Her ministry is grounded in compassion, respect, and the belief that no one should walk the end-of-life journey alone.
Outside of ministry, Khan enjoys spending time with her family. She is married to Jonathan Zingkhai.
Khan earned her bachelor’s degree from Southern California Seminary and completed her Master of Divinity from Berkeley School of Theology.
Ben is a Southern California native who grew up in Huntington Beach, California—where he spent plenty of time surfing, even though he’d admit he’s not very good at it. He graduated from Cal State Long Beach and UCLA for graduate studies, later earning his M.Div from Talbot Theological School and a Th.M in Missiology from Fuller Theological Seminary.
As a SoCal native, his favorite teams are the Lakers and the Dodgers, though his favorite football team is the Philadelphia Eagles—a nod to his time growing up in one of the roughest parts of Philadelphia. In 2013, he moved to the Bay Area to help plant a church and now serves as the Missions and Outreach Pastor at Christian Layman Church in Oakland.
He has one wife, Ruth, along with their son Joshua and daughter Rebekah. His favorite colors are hot pink and fluorescent green, and lately he enjoys playing tennis in his spare time. His calling in life is furthering the Great Commision (Matt 28), shaped by his own experience serving as a missionary in Thailand and China.
